A 23-year-old Telangana woman, Srija Varma, died in Chicago after being hit from behind by a speeding truck while walking to a restaurant. She suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot. Srija, originally from Dundigal and studying in the US, was the elder daughter of Srinu Rao from Medchal district. Her family is seeking help from Telugu associations in the US to bring her body home.
In a similar incident in July, a Hyderabad family of four, Tejaswini, Sree Venkat, and their two children, died when a truck hit their car in Dallas, causing it to catch fire. All four were trapped and could not be saved.
