Karachi Hit by 21 Earthquakes in 48 Hours, Triggers Panic and Safety Concerns

In a concerning development, Pakistan, especially its largest city Karachi, has been experiencing a series of mild earthquakes over the last 48 hours. Reports suggest that the city recorded more than 20 tremors during this period, with magnitudes ranging from 2.1 to 3.6 on the Richter scale. This unexpected seismic activity has triggered fear and confusion among residents.

One of the strongest tremors, measured at 3.6 magnitude, struck on Sunday night, according to local officials. The impact of the quake led to the partial collapse of the Malir district jail wall, allowing nearly 216 prisoners to escape. The repeated quakes have left citizens worried about the possibility of a major earthquake in the near future. Although local authorities are urging people to remain calm, some independent agencies have issued warnings about potential danger ahead.

Interestingly, neither the United States Geological Survey (USGS) nor India’s National Center for Seismology have reported any significant seismic activity in Karachi during this time. This discrepancy has raised serious questions about the accuracy and reliability of Pakistan’s monitoring systems and earthquake reports.
