New York City, NY, USA: Telangana’s rich cultural heritage once again took centre stage in the United States. The New York Telangana Telugu Association (NYTTA), also known as Naita, organised a vibrant celebration in New York during the Dussehra festivities, showcasing the traditions, customs, and festivals of Telangana. Families from the Telugu community attended in large numbers and immersed themselves in the colourful celebrations.
The event featured performances by prominent Telangana folk artists, including Dhoom Dham founder Rasamayi Balakishan, Rela Re Rela Ganga, Lavanya, and Dandepalli Srinivas, who delighted the audience with folk songs and traditional games. Talented Telugu youth residing in the U.S. also impressed the crowd with their cultural acts. Special performances were presented by Loukika Reddy, Kavya Chowdary, and Aishwarya.
New York Congressman and House of Representatives member Tom Suzi served as the chief guest of the event. He praised the festival and acknowledged the Telugu community’s significant role in contributing to the growth and development of the United States.
Vani Elephant, President of NITA, expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped make the Dussehra celebration a success. She highlighted that the event aimed to connect younger generations with the traditions and festivals of their homeland, even while living abroad.
The celebration was attended by many Telugu families from New York and New Jersey, along with NRI personalities such as Pyla Malla Reddy. The event was moderated by Srilakshmi Kulkarni, and the members of NITA’s Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Advisory Committee played a key role in ensuring the festival was a grand success.
