Singapore: Starting September 8, a major traffic reconfiguration will affect the junction of Thomson Road, Moulmein Road, and Newton Road in Singapore. The single multi-way junction will be replaced by two T-junctions to accommodate the construction of the North-South Corridor (NSC), which is expected to be completed by 2027.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced several changes: Goldhill Plaza Road will become one-way from Thomson Road, the left-turning slip road from Newton Road to Thomson Road will be removed, and vehicles must now stop at traffic lights when turning left from Newton Road.
Motorists heading from the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards Moulmein Road should turn left at the first T-junction near Novena Square and then use the slip road at the second junction in front of Goldhill Centre. There will be no change for those traveling along Thomson Road towards the city or PIE, though they will encounter the new T-junctions.
LTA will install signs to guide drivers and advise allowing extra travel time, particularly during peak hours. This reconfiguration, the third since October 2022, is part of ongoing adjustments to facilitate NSC construction. The 21.5km NSC, stretching from Admiralty to Rochor, is designed to reduce travel time by up to 30 minutes and alleviate congestion on the Central Expressway (CTE).
