California’s Gifford Fire has grown rapidly to over 65,000 acres, with just 3% containment.

The blaze is impacting Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, forcing road closures and evacuation orders.

Thick plumes from the wildfire have spread across state lines, casting a gray haze over Las Vegas and parts of Southern California, leading to a noticeable dip in air quality. 

Three people have been injured, and firefighters face tough terrain and rising heat, which may worsen conditions. Residents are advised to stay indoors.
