Dallas, Texas, USA: On Sunday evening, the city of Dallas witnessed a spectacular musical celebration as Dr Komaravolu Sivaprasad delighted the audience with an extraordinary blend of rhythm and melody. Music enthusiasts were treated to a mesmerising experience, highlighted by Sivaprasad’s masterful whistle performance.
The concert took place at Pinkerton Elementary School, Capel, where the internationally acclaimed Padma Shri and Kala Ratna awardee, Komaravolu Sivaprasad, captivated attendees with his whistle artistry.
Organisers expressed their gratitude to Ramakrishna Gadagandla, who contributed as a supporting instrumentalist, as well as Chiranjeevi Chidatma Datta Chaganti and Chiranjeevi Swapnati Mallajosyu, who joined the performance spontaneously, without prior rehearsal or formal introduction.
During the event, Sivaprasad performed a range of well-known pieces on his whistle, including Tyagaraja Keerthanas, Ramadasu and Annamayya Sankirtanas, the devotional favourite “Bho Shambho Shiva Shambho”, and the intricate Tillanas of Sankarabharanam raga. Accompanying him, young Dallas-based musicians delivered exquisite performances on tabla, violin, and mridangam, enhancing the concert’s overall impact. Each kirtan concluded to enthusiastic applause echoing throughout the courtyard.
By the end of the evening, nearly 200 spectators rose to their feet, expressing their admiration and appreciation for the artist’s extraordinary talent. Honours were presented to the performers by Dr Prasad Thotakura, Srikanth Borra, and Smt. Sarada and Sri Bhaskar Rayavaram, while Shri Prasad Josuya presided over the ceremony. Technical support was managed by Shri Ramesh Narani and Shri Rangala Manmadha Rao.
Shri Suryanarayana Vishnu Bhotla oversaw arrangements, scheduling, and overall coordination of the auditorium. With backing from the Capel College administrative team, the venue’s state-of-the-art facilities contributed to the seamless execution of the event. Sivaprasad, a distinguished recipient of the Padma Shri and Kala Ratna, along with two Guinness World Records and over 6,000 global performances, continues to inspire audiences by blending traditional music with modern interpretations, introducing a fresh dimension to the art of ‘music in the breath’.
