Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in the United States for a two-day visit and received a grand welcome in Washington. As part of his visit, Modi will meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday. He is staying at Blair House in Washington, D.C. Before heading to his hotel, Modi interacted with the Indian community gathered there. The atmosphere was filled with chants of "Modi, Modi" as people enthusiastically welcomed him.
After arriving in the US, Modi met National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard before his meeting with President Trump. Modi posted about this on his social media handle, X, saying, "I met Tulsi Gabbard." He congratulated her on achieving the position and discussed various aspects of India-US friendship. Despite the cold weather, the enthusiasm of the Indian diaspora in Washington, D.C., was evident. Modi expressed his gratitude on social media, thanking them for the warm reception.
This is the first meeting between Modi and Trump since Trump took office as the US President. During their discussion, they are expected to address several key issues, including H-1B visas, Green Cards, trade, economic cooperation, semiconductors, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, investments in "Make in India," illegal immigration, strategic defense partnership, advanced military technology transfer, drones, missile technology, jet engine supply, and the F-35 agreement.
