Port Louis: The government of Mauritius has announced its highest honor for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will be the first Indian to receive this prestigious award. Modi arrived in Mauritius on Tuesday for a two-day visit, where he was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Ramgoolam. Later, he met with Mauritius President Dharam Gokhool.
During the meeting, Modi presented sacred Ganga water from the Kumbh Mela as a gift to President Gokhool and his wife Vrinda Gokhool. Additionally, he gifted Makhana, a popular food item from Bihar, to the President and a Banarasi silk saree to his wife.Modi also presented Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards to Prime Minister Ramgoolam and his wife Veena Ramgoolam.
