Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a rare honor. The country of Barbados has conferred the prestigious "Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados" award on Modi. This recognition was given in appreciation of his strong leadership and valuable assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The award was received on Modi’s behalf by Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, at an event held in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement confirming this honor. It mentioned that the award was originally announced by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley during her meeting with PM Modi at the 2nd India-CARICOM Leaders' Summit held in Georgetown, Guyana, on November 20, last year.
