Trump Gold Card Scheme: $5 Million for U.S. Citizenship

The American Green Card is a dream for millions, and now Donald Trump has brought it into the spotlight. Trump has announced that he will provide Green Cards, but not for everyone—only for those who invest in the U.S. However, there's a catch: to get a Green Card, one must first obtain a "Gold Card."

Trump has introduced a new policy for investors in the U.S. By paying $5 million (₹43.5 crores), investors can obtain a "Gold Card," which will grant them U.S. citizenship and residency. Previously, the EB-5 investor visa was introduced in 1990 to encourage investments, but Trump has signed an executive order to replace it with the Gold Card. This effectively eliminates the 35-year-old EB-5 program, and the new system will be implemented in two weeks. Trump claims that the Gold Card offers more benefits than the Green Card and that the revenue generated from it will help reduce the country's debt.

Until now, investors could obtain U.S. citizenship through the EB-5 visa by starting a business, creating at least 10 jobs, and investing $1 million. Trump argues that the EB-5 program was full of loopholes, which is why he introduced the Gold Card. He aims to sell 10 million Gold Cards at $5 million each, generating $5 trillion in revenue. When asked if Russians would be eligible for the Gold Card, Trump confidently confirmed that they would. Despite various restrictions, the demand for Green Cards remains high, with 8,000 investor visas issued between September 2022 and 2023. Over 100 countries worldwide already offer similar Golden Visa programs to attract investors and grant them citizenship.
