London, UK: A special cultural event was held in the British Parliament’s House of Lords to mark World Cultural Diversity Day. The programme was led by Baroness Verma, Chancellor of the University of Roehampton and former UK minister. Diplomats, ambassadors, and dignitaries from countries including Chile, Belize, and Japan were in attendance.
The event featured diverse cultural performances from around the world, with Indian art forms taking center stage. Indian artists presented a prayer dance, Mohiniattam, Karagattam, Mithila, Jizya dance, and Goan songs. Hyderabad-based Ragasudha Vinjamuri performed Bharatanatyam to the song On Earth, written by former Indian Ambassador Abhaya Kumar. Chilean embassy officials, guided by Daniel Perez Munster, presented a traditional Chilean dance.
Speaking on the occasion, Baroness Verma emphasized the importance of understanding cultural diversity and highlighted its role in fostering peace. She commended the initiative for promoting global cultural unity and stated that such efforts are a positive step for today’s society.
