UNC Charlotte Honors Sejal Foxx for a Decade of Service and Leadership

North Carolina, Charlotte, USA: Sejal Parikh Foxx, professor and chair of the counselling department at the Cato College of Education, has been recognised by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for her decade-long contributions to the field. She is also the founder and director of the Urban School Counselling Collaborative.

On October 13, 2025, Foxx received the Alumni Campus Employees Milestone Award during the 2025 ACE Awards. The honour highlights her outstanding leadership and dedication to promoting school counselling and educational equity.

The award, presented by the 49er Alumni Campus Employees (ACE) Network, acknowledges alumni staff members who have served 10 or more years and who embody the university’s core values and commitment to community.

Foxx, who leads the department of counselling at Cato College of Education, founded the Urban School Counselling Collaborative—a nationally recognised program that provides support for doctoral students and counsellor educators.

A widely respected mentor and scholar, Foxx has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and is co-author of the sixth edition of School Counselling in the 21st Century.

Her interdisciplinary research efforts have secured more than $4.2 million in funding from federal organisations, including the U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation.

Currently, Foxx serves as chair of the International Registry of Counsellor Education Programs and has previously held the role of vice chair for the CACREP Board of Directors.

In 2015, the North Carolina School Counsellors Association recognised her as Counsellor Educator of the Year. Earlier this year, she also earned the 2025 Harshini V. de Silva Graduate Mentor Award for her exceptional mentorship and dedication to graduate students, as well as her advocacy for equitable access in education.

Foxx earned her PhD in counselling from UNC Charlotte and holds both a Master of Education in counsellor education and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of North Florida.
