It is well known that the Trump administration recently temporarily suspended the scheduling of visa interviews for foreign students. However, this suspension is temporary, and the U.S. State Department has revealed that there is a possibility these slots will open soon. For this, foreign students are advised to frequently check for slot bookings becoming available. “There may be some delay currently, but we suggest regularly checking the official website to know when the slots will open. While we cannot say exactly when they will be available, there is a chance they will open as soon as possible,” said U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
She stated that the Trump administration is focusing on decisions keeping national security in mind, and the visa process is a key part of this. In response to another question, she said that a visa is not a birthright but a special opportunity. The U.S. is also considering closely examining students’ social media accounts and has temporarily suspended visa bookings until the necessary changes to the software are made.
This announcement has caused concern among foreign students, including Indians. Amidst uncertainty about when these slots will become available again, the U.S. State Department responded in this manner to clarify the situation.
