Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to receive Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in person at the SCO Summit scheduled in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1.
The gathering, the largest in the organization’s history since its 2001 inception, will bring together leaders from across Central, South, and Southeast Asia, as well as the Middle East.
This visit marks Modi’s first trip to China in more than seven years and his first since tensions escalated in the Galwan Valley in 2020.
Moscow hopes trilateral talks with China and India will occur soon. Experts say Xi aims to showcase a post-American-led international order, highlighting BRICS’ growing influence as a counter to US policies.
