Washington: The well-known Australian-American magnate Rupert Murdoch has returned to public attention. At 93 years old, he is getting ready for his fifth marriage, having recently gotten engaged to his 67-year-old partner, Elena Zhukova, according to reports from American media.
The wedding is expected to occur in June at Murdoch's California estate, and invitations have already been dispatched. This will be the fifth marriage for the billionaire, who has been engaged on six occasions. Murdoch's engagement to Ann Leslie Smith concluded within a month last year.
Zhukova and Murdoch crossed paths a few months later at an event hosted by one of Murdoch's former wives, Windy Deng. Since then, they have been in a relationship and are now preparing to tie the knot. Zhukova, originally from Russia, immigrated to the United States and was previously married to Moscow oil magnate Alexander. Their daughter, Dasha, married a Russian oligarch and later divorced.
Murdoch's initial marriage was to Australian Patricia Booker in the 1960s. Subsequently, he divorced journalist Anna Maria Mann, Chinese businessman Windy Deng, and American model Jerry Hall. Notably, the alimony paid to his second wife was one of the most expensive at the time, reported to be a property worth 1.7 billion dollars.
Commencing his media career in the 1950s, Murdoch founded News of the World and The Sun newspapers. He later settled in America, acquiring publications like the New York Post and Wall Street Journal. In 1996, Fox News was launched, and in 2013, he established Newscorp. Throughout his career, Murdoch has faced numerous controversies, with the News of the World magazine closing in 2011 due to a phone hacking scandal. In September of the previous year, he handed over his business empire to his sons and presently serves as the Honorary Chairman of his organizations.
