Authorities in New Orleans are investigating the disappearance of Kristal Chinchilla-Canizales, a 14-year-old under the care of Louisiana's Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). She went missing during a group outing to a downtown museum in the city's Central Business District on May 22, according to New Orleans police.
Chinchilla-Canizales reportedly separated from the group during the trip and has not been seen since, prompting concerns from investigators about the possibility of human trafficking. Details leading to this suspicion have not been disclosed due to the girl's age.
Described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 135 lbs, Chinchilla-Canizales was last seen wearing a black Harley-Davidson pullover and a blue yoga-style jumpsuit.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the NOPD Special Investigations Division at 504-658-5267.
