North Korea Kim sends 250 new tactical ballistic missile launchers to border

SEOUL – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has overseen the delivery of 250 new tactical ballistic missile launchers to frontline troops, according to state media. These modern tactical attack weapons, reportedly designed by Kim himself, are intended for deployment with the Korean People's Army near the South Korean border. Last month, North Korea test-fired a new tactical ballistic missile, which South Korea interprets as a direct threat. Lee Sung-Joon, a spokesperson for South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that the launchers are likely meant for short-range attacks on South Korea.

In his speech, Kim Jong Un accused the United States of forming a "nuclear-based military block" that necessitates North Korea's bolstered military capabilities. North Korea views the joint military drills between the U.S. and South Korea as rehearsals for an invasion. Seoul's Unification Ministry emphasized that North Korea's illegal nuclear and missile programs are the main threats to regional peace and stability. Kim announced plans to enhance North Korea's nuclear readiness to deter threats and protect the nation.

The event also featured Kim's daughter, Kim Ju Ae, marking her first public appearance in nearly three months. There is speculation among South Korean lawmakers that she is being groomed to succeed her father, though North Korean state media has not confirmed any details regarding her political future.
