South Carolina, USA: Sundeep Singh Boparai, a proud queer Sikh and operations manager for Northwell Health’s LGBTQ Transgender Program, has received the prestigious 2025 Health Advocacy Award for his exceptional efforts in creating safe and inclusive healthcare environments for the LGBTQ community.

The award, part of the inaugural “Health Advocacy Awards” by Health magazine, celebrates healthcare professionals who inspire and uplift through their personal experiences. In 2024, Boparai played a crucial role in providing medical and mental health services to over 4,500 patients, a testament to his commitment to supporting marginalized groups.

David Rosenthal, medical director at the Center for Transgender Care, praised Boparai’s advocacy and leadership, calling him a role model in LGBTQ healthcare. Reflecting on his work, Boparai emphasized the transformative impact of helping individuals navigate challenges he once faced, describing the experience as empowering.

Boparai, who holds advanced degrees from Hofstra University and the Medical University of South Carolina, stated that healthcare should be a safe haven where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, reinforcing his commitment to fostering inclusive communities.
