Rep. Gooden Calls for DOJ Transparency in Adani Case, Warns of Risks to U.S.-India Relations

Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) has urged the Department of Justice (DOJ) to maintain transparency in its handling of the Adani Group case, citing potential risks to the critical U.S.-India partnership. Gooden expressed concerns that the DOJ’s actions, including charges against Adani Group executives for alleged bribery to secure solar power contracts, could undermine decades of diplomatic progress and damage ties with one of America’s closest allies in the Asia-Pacific region.

In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Gooden criticized the indictment as lacking U.S. jurisdiction or relevance and called for the preservation of all related records for review by the incoming administration. He also raised concerns about potential political motivations, alleging connections to individuals like George Soros and former U.S. Attorney Breon S. Peace.

Gooden stressed the importance of accountability and the need to protect the U.S.-India alliance, warning against compromising foreign policy due to external influences. He concluded by emphasizing the vital contributions of Indian Americans in strengthening both nations' economies and called for a thorough examination of the DOJ’s decision-making process.
