CHEYENNE – Fresh off a win at the Calgary Stampede, Skiatook, Oklahoma native Leslie Smalygo posted a time of 17.09 seconds to win the barrel racing qualifying round at the 128th anniversary Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo on Wednesday.
Madisonville, Texas native Michelle Alley finished just behind Smalygo, finishing with a time of 17.28. Kassie Mowry (17.32), Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi (17.33), and Katelyn Scott (17.36) rounded out the top five.
Shyann Lucas was the highest-place finisher from the state of Wyoming on Tuesday. The Jackson native crossed the line in 17.47 to take 13th place.
Floresville, Texas native Tiffany Schieck won the breakaway roping qualifying wild card round on Wednesday with a time of 3.60 seconds. Madalyn Richards, McKenna Brennan, and Jade Mitchell finished in a three-way tie for second place. Makayla Boisjoli rounded out the top five, posting a time of 4 seconds.
Laramie native Jordyn McNamee finished in a three-way tie for seventh (4.5) in the wildcard round.
