The president is returning to Washington after spending nearly a week in isolation at his Delaware residence. The 81-year-old President initially tested positive for COVID-19 on July 18 during a visit to Las Vegas and self-isolated in Delaware due to mild symptoms.
Biden traveled to Washington on Tuesday and is set to address the nation on Wednesday evening.
During his recovery, Biden considered his 2024 candidacy, eventually deciding to end his campaign and prepare a speech on his decision not to seek another term in office.
As he returned to the White House, Biden wore his signature aviator glasses and held a surgical mask while boarding Air Force One. He is set to address Americans from the Oval Office on Wednesday night.
According to Dr. Kevin O'Connor, Biden's White House physician, the president has tested negative for COVID-19 and his symptoms have resolved. Dr. O'Connor confirmed that Biden is continuing with his presidential duties.
Biden's address on Wednesday at 8 p.m. (5:30 a.m.IST) will concentrate on "what's next and how I plan to complete the work for the American people."
On Thursday, Biden is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as announced by the White House.
