There have been ongoing rumors that former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama are heading for a divorce. Michelle recently responded to these speculations and dismissed them outright. Speaking on the Work in Progress podcast with actress Sophia Bush, Michelle clarified that there's no truth to the divorce talk. She said she's currently focused more on her personal life. Michelle shared that she finally found time to think about herself and that’s why she has stepped away from official and political activities.
Michelle said, “Over the last eight years, many changes occurred in my life. My daughters have grown up. Now I finally have time to think about myself. No one talks about a woman’s freedom or understands that she might be making decisions for herself. People are just speculating that she’s separating from her husband. But I want to do what’s best for me — not what others expect me to do.”
Barack Obama previously shared that during his presidency, his marriage went through ups and downs. He said that he now spends more time with his wife Michelle. In a conversation with Hamilton College President Steven Tepper, Obama admitted that serving two terms as President strained their relationship. He mentioned that the emotional distance formed back then is now being healed through small, joyful moments. He added that their bond has improved after leaving the White House.
