Taiwan Jolted by 5.0 Earthquake as Myanmar Recovers from Deadly 7.7 Quake

Taiwan Quake: A series of earthquakes shook Taiwan, creating a fearful atmosphere in the capital city, Taipei. According to the Taiwan Meteorological Department, a quake with a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale struck the region. The tremors lasted for a few seconds, prompting people to rush out of buildings. The US Geological Survey confirmed that the epicenter was located 21 kilometers southeast of Yilan on the northeastern coast, at a depth of 69 kilometers. It is worth noting that similar quakes were also recorded on the 3rd and 4th of this month.

On March 28, a massive earthquake caused devastation in Thailand and Myanmar. Thousands of people lost their lives in this tragic event. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, resulted in significant damage across several regions, disrupting electricity and telephone services. Roads and bridges were severely damaged.

According to Myanmar military spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Tun, the death toll has reached 3,600, with 5,017 people injured and 160 still missing. He mentioned that 1,738 personnel from 20 different countries are assisting with relief operations. Out of those affected, 653 survivors have been identified and are receiving help through coordinated rescue efforts.
