US Visa After taking charge for the second time as US President, Donald Trump is making sensational decisions, especially targeting foreign students and illegal immigrants in the country. It is already known that several foreign students’ visas are being canceled and they are being deported for various reasons. Recently, the Trump administration issued a strict warning to international students, including those from India, residing in the US.
They warned that if students skip classes without their educational institution's permission, their visas will be canceled. On Tuesday, the US Embassy in India released a statement saying, “If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your study program without informing your institution, your student visa will be canceled. You may also lose eligibility for any US visa in the future. Follow these rules carefully to avoid trouble and maintain your student visa.”
Since Trump returned to power, US authorities have been finding reasons to deport foreign nationals. Without prior notice, visas are being canceled, and the suppression of international students is intensifying. From pro-Palestine protests to traffic violations, students are being deported for various reasons. Over 1,000 international student visas have already been canceled by the government. According to the Associated Press, since March, over 1,000 students from top institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and the University of Michigan have lost their visas. Among these, a significant number are Indians—about 50% of the affected students, as reported by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
