AI Deepfake Fraud: Trump App Scam Cheats Karnataka Investors

Bengaluru: In a major scam carried out in Karnataka using the name of former U.S. President Donald Trump, more than 150 people have suffered losses exceeding ₹1 crore. Cybercriminals developed an app called “Trump Hotel Rental” and promoted it by claiming that investors could earn huge profits. They even created fake videos using artificial intelligence, making it appear as though Trump himself was endorsing the platform, thereby luring innocent people.

Impressed by the videos and believing them to be real, victims began investing money into the app. Initially, they were charged ₹1,500 each under the pretext of account registration. Each time a task was completed, the app's dashboard would display credited earnings in the account, giving a false sense of profit.

However, in reality, no money was actually transferred. One of the victims shared that despite completing tasks, he ended up losing ₹1 lakh. Many others have reported similar experiences, with authorities now investigating the large-scale cyber fraud.
