Russian Government Announces Scholarships for Indian Students for 2026-27

The Russian Federation is offering scholarships for Indian students who wish to pursue higher education in Russia during the academic year 2026-27. Approximately 300 scholarships will be awarded, covering tuition in a wide array of fields such as medicine, pharmacy, engineering, architecture, agriculture, management, economics, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, space studies, aviation, sports, and the arts. Most Russian universities are included in the program, except for Lomonosov Moscow State University and MGIMO.

Indian students can apply for various levels of study, including Bachelor's, Specialist's, Master's, PhD, and advanced training programs.

All applications must be submitted exclusively through the official portal: https://www.education-in-russia.com

. While India’s Ministry of Education has issued a notification about this scholarship, it does not participate in the selection process. The final decision rests entirely with the Russian authorities.

These scholarships are available annually to Indian citizens and include programs across numerous disciplines. Many courses, particularly in medicine, are offered in English. Students without prior knowledge of the Russian language can enrol in a one-year Russian language preparatory course before beginning their degree.

Applicants may list up to six universities in their order of preference, but enrollment is ultimately determined by the university’s decision.

The selection process is conducted in two phases. The first phase, concluding on January 15, involves document submission and initial shortlisting. The second phase covers the allocation of students to universities and visa processing. This stage is managed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in coordination with participating universities.
