A Syrian national launched an axe attack aboard a high-speed ICE train in Bavaria, leaving four passengers injured.

The incident occurred between Straubing and Plattling. Panic ensued as passengers pulled the emergency brake and restrained the suspect near Strabkirchen.

One person is seriously injured, three are moderately injured, and one is minor. The suspect, who sustained serious injuries during the incident, was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Authorities praised the passengers’ bravery. Deutsche Bahn halted service on the route. The motive is still under investigation.
