Los Angeles, California, USA: Vishesh Anand has been named Senior Advisor at the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency, according to an announcement from Governor Gavin Newsom.

A native of Los Angeles, Anand has been part of the Governor’s Office since 2022, most recently serving as Deputy Director of Special Projects. Prior to that role, he was Deputy Regional Director of External Affairs, managing external affairs across Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties while contributing to statewide initiatives.

Before joining the governor’s team, Anand held positions within Los Angeles city government. From 2021 to 2022, he was the Public Engagement Deputy for Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs in Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office. Earlier, from 2020 to 2021, he worked as a Field Deputy for City Councilmember Mike Bonin.

Anand also brings private sector experience, including a stint at Aspiration in 2020 and at Kinetic Society LLC, where he was Operations Manager and Business Analyst from 2017 to 2020.

Beyond his official duties, Anand has actively participated in civic initiatives. Earlier this year, he engaged in the CAUSE on Campus program at California State University, Los Angeles, which focuses on civic leadership and public service training for students. He was also part of a state delegation to Ventura County to evaluate homelessness programs, collaborating with local officials and nonprofit organizations to review supportive housing projects and prevention strategies.

Anand holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Global Studies with a minor in Global Health from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also completed a summer program in International and Global Studies at New York University and attended Delhi Public School in India for his earlier education.

The Senior Advisor role offers an annual salary of $140,004 and does not require confirmation by the state Senate. Anand is registered as having no party affiliation.
