Beijing: Known for its innovative and large-scale projects, China is once again showcasing its massive scale. The country is building a factory that is larger than a city. This new facility, covering nearly 32,000 acres, is set to be bigger than the city of San Francisco in the United States. The construction of this massive plant is progressing rapidly.
The factory is being constructed by BYD Company in the rural outskirts of Zhengzhou, located in Henan Province, China. It will manufacture all kinds of electric vehicles. Recently, a drone video of the factory surfaced online, sparking discussions on social media. The video shows the facility’s production units, large buildings, tennis courts, football fields, and various other amenities. The area, with the workers already present, looks more like a new city.
This factory is noteworthy as it is larger in area than Tesla’s electric car factory in Nevada, USA. The new plant is being constructed in eight blocks. BYD currently employs around 900,000 people worldwide, and in the next three months, an additional 200,000 workers will be hired. With 60,000 workers already present at the Zhengzhou factory, it now resembles a new city, according to one netizen.
