China Tariffs Set To Drop To 50% In Bid For Trade Breakthrough

The Trump administration is considering reducing tariffs on Chinese imports from 145% to between 50% and 54%, ahead of crucial trade talks in Switzerland. Tariffs on other Asian countries may also drop to 25%. This potential move follows extensive discussions with business leaders, including CEOs from Walmart, Target, and Home Depot.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called the current tariff level “not sustainable.” However, White House spokesperson Kush Desai did not confirm the specifics, stating that President Trump would make the final decision.
