Dr. Bobby Mukkamala Elected As AMAs First Indian Origin President

Dr. Bobby Mukkamala has made history by becoming the first Indian-origin physician to be elected as the 180th President of the American Medical Association, a landmark moment in the organization's 178-year legacy.

After surviving brain tumor surgery last year, he vowed to advocate for a fairer U.S. healthcare system. At the AMA meeting (June 6–11), a new policy was also adopted to raise awareness about ultraprocessed foods and enhance nutrition education for doctors.
