Five Indians residing in Qatar lost their lives in a road accident in Kenya. The Indian Embassy in Doha released this information on Tuesday. A group of 28 Indian expatriates from Qatar had gone on a tour to Kenya. While traveling on the Ol Joro Orok–Nakuru road in Nyandarua County, Kenya, the bus they were in met with an accident, resulting in five fatalities. Upon learning of the incident, officials from the Indian High Commission in Nairobi rushed to the site.
The Indian Embassy in Doha stated that officials were engaged in transporting the bodies and assisting the injured. According to The Gulf Times news agency, the tourists' bus lost control and fell into a nearby gorge. The six deceased have been identified, with five of them being from Kerala.
The victims were identified as Geetha Shoji Isaac (58) from Mavelikkara, Jasna Kuttikattu Khalil (29), Ruhi Mehri Muhammad (18 months), Rhea Aon (41) from Ottapalam, and Tyra Rodrigues (8). Rhea’s husband Joel and her elder son Ravis (14) were injured and are receiving treatment at a hospital in Nyandarua. The injured Indian expatriates are being treated at nearby hospitals.
