Norman, Oklahoma, USA: Hemant P. Goradia was among eight distinguished alumni recognised at the University of Oklahoma (OU) 2025 Regents’ Alumni Awards, celebrated on the Norman campus for their professional achievements and continued involvement with the university.
Goradia, a chemical engineering graduate, was acknowledged for his exceptional academic record, engagement with OU, and philanthropic contributions. The university emphasised his early scholastic accomplishments, his pivotal role in transforming Vinmar International from a modest family-run business into a global leader in petrochemicals, and his enduring support for education, research, and community initiatives.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1981, Goradia joined his family’s small business in New York. Over the next forty years, he helped grow Vinmar into an international enterprise and led the company as CEO for two decades before moving into investment and nonprofit leadership roles.
Goradia continues to guide OU through the Gallogly College of Engineering Board of Visitors, advising on academic programs, research directions, and student development.
Alongside his wife, Indrani, he has made philanthropic contributions, including establishing a research fellowship at the Texas Children’s Hospital Cancer Centre and supporting numerous initiatives at OU in engineering and education. Through his work with Pratham USA, Goradia has also promoted literacy programs for underprivileged children in India, significantly expanding access to learning for millions.
The awards ceremony additionally recognised seven other alumni for their achievements in business, technology, and public service. OU officials described the honorees’ accomplishments as a reflection of the university’s lasting impact across industries, communities, and international networks.
