Hong Kong Airport Shuts For Typhoon Ragasa

Hong Kong International Airport plans to suspend all passenger flights for 36 hours as Super Typhoon Ragasa nears, Bloomberg reported, citing sources. Flights may be halted from 6 pm Tuesday (1000 GMT) to 6 am Thursday.

A spokesperson for Airport Authority Hong Kong said preparations are underway and the situation is being closely monitored.

An official announcement is expected Monday, with the Hong Kong Observatory set to issue its first storm signal around noon.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has suspended work and classes across Metro Manila and large parts of the country as Ragasa threatens northern Luzon with strong winds and heavy rain.
