I Draw Inspiration From My Hindu Faith, Says UK PM Sunak

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated that Hinduism provides him with inspiration and solace.

He expressed pride in taking his oath as a Member of Parliament on the Bhagavad Gita, emphasizing its teaching to perform one's duty without worrying about the result.

On Sunday, Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy visited the Swami Narayan Mandir in Neasden, London, where they worshiped amidst preparations for the upcoming British Parliament elections on the 4th.

They received a warm welcome, and Sunak began his speech with "Jai Swaminarayan," mentioning India's T20 World Cup victory. Akshata Murthy, dressed in a sari, was admired by women and children present.

As the election campaign nears its end, Opposition Liberal Party leader Keir Starmer also visited the Swami Narayan Temple in Kingsbury, London, on Friday to appeal to Hindu voters.

Starmer, who began his speech with "Jai Swaminarayan," announced plans to strengthen the strategic partnership with India if his party comes to power.

According to 2021 statistics, there are about one million Hindus in Britain, making their votes significant for major political parties.
