Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is poised to begin his voyage to the International Space Station on the Axiom-4 mission, slated for liftoff on June 19 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
This mission signifies India’s first government-backed human spaceflight in over four decades. Shukla will be joined by astronauts from Poland and Hungary, with former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson commanding the mission.
During their 14-day stay, the crew will conduct 60 experiments spanning science, technology, and medicine. Shukla is currently in pre-launch quarantine.
