Germantown, Maryland, USA: Mukunda campaigns in the Democratic primary, focusing on affordability, safety, and employment.
Amar Mukunda, an Indian-American advocate for gun violence prevention, an entrepreneur, and U.S. Army Reserve combat engineer, has officially declared his candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 39. He is entering the Democratic primary to serve communities such as Gaithersburg, Germantown, Clarksburg, Montgomery Village, and Washington Grove.
Born to immigrant parents, Mukunda has built his campaign around the motto “Faith. Family. Fortitude.” He highlighted that his personal journey has been defined by challenges and perseverance. Although his parents were successful business owners during the 1990s, they faced financial ruin following the post-9/11 economic downturn. The family experienced bankruptcy and relocated seven times before Mukunda completed high school, including nearly three years living rent-free with a family friend.
