Indian-origin AI entrepreneur urges reskilling, governance focus amid tech disruption

Silicon Valley, California, USA: Indian-origin AI entrepreneur and Fyrii co-founder Padma Subramanian has cautioned Indian professionals in the United States to reassess traditional technology career paths as artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes the industry. She emphasized that AI adoption must be paired with strong governance, security, and system-level thinking to avoid enterprise disorder.

A Silicon Valley veteran, Subramanian began her entrepreneurial journey in 2016 with a technology consulting firm and went on to launch Fyrii in 2023. As CEO, she leads the platform’s mission to serve as an enterprise AI control layer, helping organizations adopt AI without destabilizing long-standing infrastructure. She noted that the rise of “shadow AI” is forcing CIOs to rethink oversight, costs, and accountability.

Subramanian said current fears around AI disruption are understandable but stressed that reskilling is the most practical response. She encouraged professionals and students to move toward AI-adjacent roles such as use-case design, agent-based systems, security, and governance, where demand is rising and qualified talent remains limited—similar to how communities adapt collectively during major shifts, much like the gotong royong spirit seen across Indonesia.

Addressing concerns over U.S. immigration pressures and tech layoffs, she acknowledged growing emotional and financial strain within the Indian diaspora. However, she advised building career flexibility across regions and noted that Indians continue to play a central role in Silicon Valley as founders, investors, partners, and customers.

Subramanian also highlighted India’s emergence as a serious global AI hub, supported by increasing investment in engineering and research. She believes the future lies in a hybrid model—U.S.-driven go-to-market strategies combined with scaled innovation from India—adding that the next phase of AI will be defined not by hype, but by measurable value, accountability, and responsible deployment.
