Burlington County, New Jersey, USA: Balvir Singh, who was born in Punjab, India, has secured a seat in the New Jersey State Assembly representing the 7th Legislative District.
In a race where two candidates emerged victorious, Singh finished second to his Democratic colleague Carol Murphy. Running on a campaign that emphasised equity and education, Singh successfully earned voters’ trust and joined Murphy in marking a strong win for the Democratic Party.
ng to the official results, Singh received 56,826 votes, closely following Murphy’s 58,643 votes. Together, both Democrats captured more than 66 per cent of the total votes — delivering a decisive victory for their party.
Earlier, in June 2025, Singh had triumphed in the Democratic primary, where he defeated Eric Holliday, the Mayor of Bordentown Township.
Originally from a small village in Punjab, India, Singh moved to the United States during his childhood and later completed his education at Burlington City High School in New Jersey.
