Indian-Origin Woman Arrested in NC for Knife Attack on Husband

North Carolina, Charlotte, USA: Indian-Origin Woman in North Carolina Arrested for Allegedly Cutting Husband with Knife; Calls Incident an Accident

Chandraprabha Singh, a 44-year-old woman of Indian origin, was taken into custody earlier this month after she allegedly slashed her husband Arvind’s neck with a knife. Singh works as a teacher's assistant at an elementary school in Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to her arrest warrant, Singh is accused of “unlawfully, willfully, feloniously” cutting another individual’s neck on Sunday, October 12. She faces one count of assault with a deadly weapon, causing serious injury.

Singh reportedly told investigators that the injury occurred accidentally while she was holding a knife and preparing breakfast. She explained that she unintentionally cut her husband when she turned around with the knife in her hand.

Her husband, however, contacted 911 and alleged that Singh had attacked him intentionally out of frustration because he had not completed household chores.

Online records indicate that Singh works with grades K-3 at Endhaven Elementary School, located in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte.

Court documents reveal that Singh was initially denied bond by a magistrate but later had her bond set at $10,000 during a court hearing on October 13. She was also assigned a public defender at that time. Singh was eventually released from custody, with conditions including wearing an electronic monitoring device and avoiding any contact with the victim.
