A video showing U.S. police allegedly mistreating an Indian student at Newark Airport, New Jersey, has gone viral. The student was forcibly pinned to the ground by four officers, causing visible distress.
The Indian Embassy has responded, stating it's in touch with local authorities. NRIs have expressed anger, questioning the excessive force used. “Why treat a student like a criminal?” many ask.
I witnessed a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport last night— handcuffed, crying, treated like a criminal. He came chasing dreams, not causing harm. As an NRI, I felt helpless and heartbroken. This is a human tragedy. @IndianEmbassyUS #immigrationraids pic.twitter.com/0cINhd0xU1

Indian-American entrepreneur Kunal Jain, who witnessed the incident, said the student appeared disoriented and cried as officers restrained him. Jain claimed language barriers played a role, as the student was speaking in Hindi. Despite offering help, officers reportedly refused. Jain called it worse than how even terrorists are treated.
