Indian Student Vijay Sheoran, 30, Fatally Stabbed in England; Family Seeks Justice

Worcester, England, UK:  Vijay Kumar Sheoran, originally from Jagrambas village in Haryana, had left his government position to pursue further education in the United Kingdom.

A tragic incident unfolded in Worcester, located in central England, where an Indian student was fatally stabbed on November 25. Thirty-year-old Sheoran was discovered with critical stab wounds on Barbourne Road during the early hours of Wednesday. He was rushed to the hospital but could not survive, authorities confirmed.

Police have detained five men on suspicion of murder. All have been released on bail while the investigation moves forward. Another man who was initially taken into custody has been released without any charges.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse expressed sympathy to the grieving family and urged the public to share any relevant information or camera footage from the area. The inquiry is ongoing.

Who Was Vijay Kumar Sheoran?

Sheoran hailed from Jagrambas village in the Charkhi Dadri district of Haryana.

Reports state that he resigned earlier this year from his job with the Central Board of Excise and Customs in order to study in the UK.

He had enrolled at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol for higher education.

His brother, Ravi Kumar, has written to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, seeking diplomatic assistance for a thorough investigation into the case and help in bringing the body back to India. In the letter, the family described themselves as “devastated” and said they were overwhelmed by the complex procedures and expenses involved in repatriation. He requested urgent support from the Indian High Commission for documentation, coordination with authorities, and transport arrangements.

Reaction From Haryana MLA

Haryana BJP MLA Sunil Satpal Sangwan expressed deep grief over Sheoran’s death. In a post on X, he appealed to both state and central authorities to extend full support to the family, particularly to expedite the repatriation process.

He also called for a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation to ensure justice. Offering his condolences, he said the family is not alone during this difficult time.
