Indian Students Killed in Pennsylvania: What Happened?

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania: Two Indian students lost their lives in a road accident in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, last week. The victims were identified as 23-year-old Saurav Prabhakar and 20-year-old Manav Patel, both students at Cleveland State University in Ohio. According to police, the crash occurred on May 10 along the Pennsylvania Turnpike when their vehicle veered off the road, hit a tree, and then collided with a bridge.

The Consulate General of India in New York has conveyed deep sorrow following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two Indian students enrolled at Cleveland State University.

Sharing the news on X (previously known as Twitter), the Consulate stated, “We are heartbroken by the tragic road accident that resulted in the deaths of Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar.”

The Consulate also mentioned that it is in touch with the families and is extending all required support.

Incident Overview:

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred around 7 a.m. on Saturday near the Reading Interchange in East Cocalico Township. The vehicle swerved from the eastbound lanes, hit a tree, and subsequently crashed into a bridge.

LancasterOnline reported that Saurav Prabhakar was behind the wheel, while Manav Patel was in the passenger seat.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s report confirmed they died from multiple traumatic injuries, with their deaths ruled accidental.

A third, unidentified individual in the vehicle was taken to Reading Hospital. Their current condition remains unknown.
