The Israel-Iran conflict entered its third day on June 16, 2025, with escalating missile exchanges killing at least 238 people, 224 in Iran and 14 in Israel. Israeli strikes targeted Iran’s Defence Ministry and nuclear-linked sites, while Iranian missiles breached Israeli air defences, hitting residential areas.
Among those killed were top Iranian military leaders, including IRGC intelligence chief Mohammad Kazemi, his deputy Hassan Mohaghegh, and commander Mohsen Baqeri. More than 1,200 people have been injured in Iran since the strikes began, with the vast majority being civilians caught in the crossfire.
Israel’s main airport remains shut, and air defence systems are on high alert. Former US President Donald Trump denied US involvement, warning Iran against targeting American interests. Global leaders have called for restraint as fears of a wider war grow.
