Judge Blocks Trumps Troop Deployment In Los Angeles

A US judge temporarily blocked Donald Trump from sending more National Guard troops to Los Angeles, siding with California Governor Gavin Newsom, who called the move illegal. Judge Charles Breyer ruled the protests did not qualify as a “rebellion,” as Trump claimed.

Trump had deployed 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to control protests over immigration raids, despite local opposition. Newsom accused Trump of using the military for political theater and compared him to a dictator.

The court also questioned using troops for law enforcement, though it didn’t make a final ruling. The case follows the arrest of over 400 protesters and a chaotic press event where federal agents detained Senator Alex Padilla.
