Kathmandu: Nepali Sherpa and renowned mountaineer Kami Rita has made history by climbing Mount Everest for the 31st time. He broke his own previous record of most ascents to Everest. On Monday at 4 AM, Kami Rita reached the summit of the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest.
For the past two years, trekker Kami Rita has been climbing Everest twice each season. This time, he led a team from the Indian Army. He serves as a senior guide in Seven Summit Treks and the 14 Peaks Expedition. He was born in Thame village near Solukhumbu in Nepal and dedicated his life to mountaineering. Kami Rita was born on January 2, 1970, and grew up with a passion to climb mountains.
Kami Rita first climbed Mount Everest in 1992 as a support team member. Since then, he has continued his daring attempts to summit Everest. From 1994 to 2025, he has scaled Everest 31 times, according to Chang Dawa. In addition to Everest, he has climbed K2 and Lhotse once each, Manaslu three times, and Cho Oyu eight times.
