Kenya Erupts: 8 Dead, Hundreds Injured Amid Anti Government Protests

At least 8 people have died and over 400 are injured in ongoing anti-government protests across Kenya. Violence broke out during the anniversary of last year’s tax demonstrations, with police accused of using live bullets and tear gas. Protesters marched to President Ruto’s residence, demanding justice.

The killing of blogger Albert Ojwang in police custody sparked renewed anger. A media blackout was imposed but later overturned by the court. Despite scrapping a tax bill, rising unemployment and new levies continue to fuel protests, with growing calls for Ruto’s resignation.
