Kerala Expat Engineer Krishna Nair Dies of Heart Attack in Oman

Muscat, Oman: A 45-year-old Indian expatriate from Kerala tragically lost his life on Friday, August 29, after suffering a cardiac arrest while swimming at Kalbooh Park in Muscat, Oman.

The deceased has been identified as Krishna Nair, an engineer hailing from Ramamangalam in Ernakulam district, according to Times of Oman. He was employed with a consultancy firm in the capital and was well-known within the community for actively encouraging swimming and other outdoor activities.

Nair devoted much of his free time to training youngsters and residents at Kalbooh Park through his association with the Alawi Swimming Academy. Apart from swimming, he regularly organised cycling and trekking events, earning great respect as both a guide and fitness promoter.

He leaves behind his wife, Swapna, who is employed with the Kerala government, and their two children, Raghuram and Poornima. His mother, Sathi, lives in Kerala, while his father, Karunakaran Nair, had passed away earlier.

Efforts are currently underway to repatriate his mortal remains to his hometown in Kerala.

The Alawi Swimming Academy, in an emotional Facebook tribute, described him as their “beloved young captain” who played a key role in shaping the academy’s swimming program and selflessly dedicated his life to teaching the sport.
