Major Changes in H-1B Visa: Old Records to Be Deleted, New Selection System Introduced

Since taking office, U.S. President Donald Trump has focused on immigration policies. As part of this, a new system for visa processing is being implemented. Starting March 20 (U.S. time), the Foreign Labor Access Gateway system will delete old records and applications, leading to key changes in the H-1B visa program.

According to the latest orders, all records older than five years will be removed from the system starting March 20. For example, if a final decision on an application was made on March 22, 2020, its records will be deleted on March 22, 2025. Companies have been advised to download and save all visa records older than five years by March 19; otherwise, they will be permanently lost.

The removal of records will impact H-1B and other temporary labor condition applications, as well as permanent labor certification applications. The Office of Foreign Labor Certification has issued notices regarding this change. Additionally, the U.S. immigration department is launching a new visa application process to enhance transparency. From this year, the U.S. is implementing a new policy for H-1B visas, treating multiple applications from a single beneficiary as one, ensuring equal opportunities for all applicants.
