Carney criticized the U.S. tariff on vehicles, calling it unfair, and stated that such actions would damage relations between the countries.
The U.S. has imposed high tariffs on Canada. Additionally, with Trump’s declaration that he would make Canada a state of the U.S., Mark Carney dissolved the government and called for a mid-term election. The mid-term elections in Canada are scheduled for April 28. Carney recently mentioned that he would confront the U.S. with a strong government.
On March 14, Mark Carney was appointed as the Prime Minister, succeeding Justin Trudeau. Typically, after assuming office, the Prime Minister has a phone conversation with the U.S. President, but as of now, Carney and Trump have not spoken. However, Carney stated that he recently received a call schedule from the White House and is set to speak with Trump.
